David vs Ryan, Week 5 2021

From Thursday, October 7th, 2021 to Monday, October 11th, 2021, David and Ryan competed in a regular season game as a part of the 2021 Maybe Next Year League season. Ryan, at one point, was up by 84.5 points heading into the final game of the week. However, huge performances from Lamar Jackson and Marquise Brown lifted David to victory and the scoring record.

David entered the game 4-0 to start the season. Ryan entered the game 2-2 with a recent win over Tyler in Week 4.

Ryan started the week hot with huge performances from Justin Herbert (52.7 pts), Derrick Henry (38.8 pts), and Alexander Mattison (33.3 pts) and was on pace to beat the recently broken single-game scoring record.

Heading into the Monday Night Football game featuring the Indianapolis Colts and the Baltimore Ravens, Ryan was leading David by a score of 255.4 to 170.9. David had Marquise Brown and Lamar Jackson of the Ravens left to play, while Ryan had only Justin Tucker. Ryan’s score of 255.4 was already enough to take the scoring title away from Kelvin, who had just scored 249.2 points in Week 1 versus Conner.

Justin Tucker scored his only points of the game in the second quarter on a 23-yard field goal to boost Ryan’s total score to 258.4

Lamar Jackson connected with Marquise Brown nine times for 125 yards and two touchdowns, the second being in overtime to seal the game. David trailed 258.4 to 248.9 before the final play of the game, where Lamar Jackson’s 5-yard touchdown pass to Marquise Brown netted him 11.5 points, the win, and the single-game scoring title. The final score was 260.4 to 258.4.

Following this game, Ryan finished the rest of the season 5-4 and defeated Chad in the first round of the playoffs before falling to the eventual champion, Andrew, in the semifinals. David finished the season 3-6 but clinched a first-round bye before falling to Andrew in the championship game.
