Hello all, currently going through the throes of life here! Due to some extenuating circumstances last week I was unable to write a single thing for the website. Sometimes that’s just how it goes. This week I will be doing the bare minimum yet again. No voting poll this week either because I don’t need to see you all vote for me at 8th place (although I still deserve it). Instead, I’m going to tell you my observations from the first four weeks of play.
What the fuck is up with Conner?
This mfer trashes the friend group on his podcast mid-draft and then goes on to start…4-0? I don’t like it. Don’t like it one bit. Nick Chubb and Justin Jefferson have been carrying HARD. Should we be concerned that he is en route to a championship on his way out of the league? Maybe, but there’s some stats that say the contrary.
- The last time Conner started 4-0 was in the league’s inaugural season in 2015. His undefeated streak was snapped in Week 5 where he lost 127-109 to Andrew. Who does Conner play this week?
- In the aforementioned 2015 season, Conner started 6-1 in the first 7 weeks. He then proceeded to finish out the regular season 2-5 before losing to Brent in the first round of the playoffs.
- His depth is to be questioned. Allen Robinson II and company have averaged just under 60 points per game on the bench in the first four weeks.
- His 4-0 start has come against teams that are a combined 6-10, including two one win teams. Hardly impressive
So, while a little part of me is concerned about Conner winning, I have confidence that Andrew and Kelvin can whip him back into shape.
House Fortner is in disarray
As everyone expected, Chad and I are a combined 2-6 on the season. We’ve talked endlessly about this disappointment and we feel differently about each others teams. Chad says that I am the better team since I’ve notched the more recent win. However, I posit that I haven’t gotten anywhere close to 192 points, around the amount he got in his lone win. Whatever the reason is, it’s made the household very depressing on Sundays and Mondays. Will one of us rebound and cement ourselves in the playoff picture? Maybe. Will we both be sitting in the consolation bracket come December? Seems more likely.
The middle of the pack
If you aren’t 4-0 or 1-3, you’re 2-2. Someone will have to emerge from the blob of .500 to contend with Conner. Almost everyone at 2-2 right now should have some hope that it will be them. I’m eying Ryan or Tyler to break ahead of the pack in the coming weeks if only for the fact that they have games coming up against Chad and I, but other teams undeniably have a wealth of talent.
Previews
This is going to be pretty short. One or two sentences max with a prediction. Let’s get it.
Tyler vs Brent
The projections look close, but as we know projections lie. Tyler in a not close game.
Chad vs David
This could be Chad’s get right game, there’s no basis to that claim though. Chad in a game that comes down to Monday night.
Kelvin vs Ryan
Both teams have looked good, so this is a hard call to make. I must choose Kelvin though.
Andrew vs Conner
I love Andrew with all my heart and nothing will change that but I will love him a lot more if he wins this week. Andrew Andrew Andrew Andrew Andrew Andrew.
