The 2022 MNY Draft kicked off at 9:00am on Friday and calling it a “dumpster fire” would be very generous. Andrew, who held the number one overall pick, woke up at 9:00am to ramble a bit about his team before falling asleep without making a pick. The wait lasted all the way to around 1:00pm, when he finally selected Jonathan Taylor out of Indianapolis.

Feeling emboldened by Andrew’s lack of regard for anyone else’s time, Ryan too decided that he would try to use all of his clock time. Around 3:30pm, co-commissioner Brent chimed into chat: “I think you’re overthinking this pick, Ryan.” The frustration was beginning to be felt in the room as texts flooded in.

“[Conner] has me on recording talking about how bad [the slow draft] is going to be.” wrote one anonymous league member.

“This draft sucks. I hate this shit.” Tyler wrote after selecting Derrick Henry, who had been drafted 4 spots earlier by Ryan.

With all of the commotion and outcry, the draft was paused after Conner made his back to back picks of Nick Chubb and Justin Jefferson.

Following this, co-commissioner Brent stepped back from draft planning and Conner attempted to take over the reins at scheduling a time for all 8 league members to get together virtually to complete the draft via ESPN. While he got close to securing a few different dates, ultimately the decision was made to resume the slow draft with modified rules to prevent team owners from intentionally burning their pick clock.

Below are the results of the first round.
